Experience the Canmore Events: Be There Races presents the exhilarating Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay Race, also known as K-100. This unique 10-person running relay begins in the charming town of Longview, Alberta, nestled in the heart of the foothills, and culminates 160 km later in picturesque Kananaskis Village. The route traverses the breathtaking Highwood Pass, the highest paved road in the country, treating both runners and spectators to awe-inspiring vistas of Alberta’s remarkable scenery. Drawing participants from across the nation and the globe for over 35 years, this event has become a premier team-building opportunity.

The K-100 warmly welcomes runners of all skill levels, from recreational enthusiasts to fiercely competitive athletes, making it accessible to everyone. The excitement kicks off on Friday evening in Longview with a traditional Alberta BBQ feast for all participants. Saturday morning starts with steaming coffee and delightful breakfast treats to fuel the day’s running adventure. Throughout the race, it’s not uncommon to encounter wildlife such as black bears, grizzly bears, Rocky Mountain Sheep, deer, and even the elusive Moose. Many relay stations are conveniently located at day-use areas along Highway 40, including a memorable stop at the apex of the Highwood Pass. In addition to the breathtaking Rocky Mountain backdrop, participants and spectators might have the chance to witness wildlife in their natural habitats.

The last two legs of the race take place on some of the incredible hiking trails near Kananaskis. As the journey concludes in Kananaskis Village at the magnificent Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, runners, spectators, and volunteers come together to celebrate with post-race festivities. Indulge in a delicious meal and savor locally brewed beer from Calgary’s very own Tool Shed brewery. For those seeking accommodations, Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge (PKML) offers a preferred room rate exclusively to K-100 participants, volunteers, and spectators, ensuring an unforgettable weekend travel experience.

Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the Canmore Events with the Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay Race. It’s an extraordinary opportunity to embrace the spirit of adventure, marvel at nature’s wonders, and create lasting memories in the stunning Canadian Rockies.
